Atlanta, GA

Security

Security starts from the moment you enter the building with 10 foot high razor wire fences surrounding the 4 acre property, all of which is covered by security lights and cameras. All footage from the cameras is stored on a specially built security server with redundant storage. Entrance through the main gate requires a keycard or manual access granted by our onsite security guards and happens through an electric gate for customers' convenience. The front door is again protected by a key card reader. After entering the gate, there are three locked/key carded doors protecting the datacenter and a biometric hand scanner authentication. Once inside the datacenter itself, customers assets are protected by locked secure cabinets or cages. All assets entering or being removed from the building are logged by an onsite security guard. Our guard service is managed by a duly sworn armed police officer with arrest powers.

Power

The Atlanta NAP is one of the few facilities able to support even your most power dense applications. Power is dual fed from the grid and protected though our redundant paralleled power system, configured with an additional full wrap-around bypass for extra redundancy (we are able to take the system offline for any type of internal maintenance without dropping power to the facility). The UPS system is backed up by a state of the art parallel generator system with multiple generators running in N+1 format. These are computer controlled and automated. The generators have 150 gallon day tanks fed from redundant pumps from our 12,000 gallon reserve tank. The system is powered by state of the art by Cummins turbocharged generators and digital fuel management system by Simplex and Veeder-Root.

Cooling Systems

The Atlanta NAP currently has 1000 tons of cooling piped into its 50,000 sq. foot datacenter. With pre planned capacity of over 2000 tons, cooling will never be an issue. Each bank of cooling towers utilizes state of the art energy management technology. As with all core system, the cooling towers are N+1, fed by redundant N+1 pumps. The Atlanta NAP also has a 30,000 gallon reserve water tank in case the city water supply ever fails.

Building Management

The Atlanta NAP is monitored at over 450 points by a state-of-the art digital building management system. Staff can log in securely from any location and check on all systems. The datacenter floor itself is equipped with temperature sensors in strategic locations that constantly monitor conditions in the facility and make adjustments. Alarms and out-of-tolerance conditions send an e-mail alert directly to management's PDAs. The system controls water flow through pump speeds and air flow to the cooling tower through fan speeds. This saves energy and ensures that the system is operating at its peak performance 24x7. The system also monitors and logs all electrical activity within the facility and sends notifications of events.

Fire Protection

The Atlanta NAP uses a state-of-the-art dual interlock dry pipe fire suppression system. High-tech smoke detectors signal the pipes to switch from compressed air (so Atlanta NAP staff are instantly alerted of leaks) to water. Then if a sprinkler head is set off by an actual fire, water is deployed to the affected zone only. The system is monitored through the building management system. The floors are all equipped with floor drains on 20 foot centers that drain the building in case of system activation.

Connectivity

Sitting on one of AGL's main fiber backbones, the Atlanta NAP operates a metro Ethernet ring based on Extreme Networks 10 Gig technology. It has Sonet-like EAPS implementation for sub 50 ms re-route times, utilizing Ethernet for efficient and affordable equipment connectivity. We have collocation in Telx at 56 Marietta and Switch and Data at 56 Marietta and are able to offer you 100 mb and Gigabit Ethernet metro cross connects to any one of the more than 100 carriers located in the Telx building. The ring is currently lit at 10 gig.

 

Chicago, IL

Redundant and Precision Power

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) is the only building in Chicago to draw power from 6 different city substations which virtually ensures a continuous and reliable power supply. As one of the largest financial centers in the world, the CBOT's power supply is fully redundant. In addition, all power from the building passes through on site Liebert Precision Power unites before reaching any servers.

24x7x365 Manned Security and Video Surveillance

The security in the CBOT is very extensive, including Security Guards and Video Surveillance throughout the building. In addition the building is patrolled by Chicago Police Officers. All Tenants of the building must have proper identification including photo I.D. to gain entrance to the building. All visitors must show proper identification and sign in at the Guards desk before gaining access to the building. A pass from the Office Of The Building is need to take any and all equipment out of the building.

Total of 100 tons of HVAC, utilizing Lieberts air-conditioning units and back up Air Rover portable units

24x7x365 datacenter staff

Our facility is staffed 24x7x365 to provide our customers with remote hands whenever they need them

Network Assets

We currently operate a network with 100+ Gbps connectivity to the internet. There are 2 separate fiber entry points for complete IP transport redundancy. Our core network uses BGP4 routing protocol - our bandwidth is %100 multi-homed. Our network supports both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. We also have a multi-year dark fiber lease. The dark fiber is used to connect our main facility at Chicago Board of Trade and our POP at Equinix-CHI which gives us access to any major internet carrier.

 

Dallas, TX

Data Center Features

AtlantaNAP's sister facility located at 8435 Stemmons Freeway starts out with 2000 sq. ft. of space good for 2000 servers. Currently boasting a 10Gige connection each from WBS Connect and nLayer. TopLayer-protected IPs provide much needed perimeter DDOS protection.

 

Denver, CO

Data Center Features

Our new 1500 Champa St. data center in Denver houses SSA offices which means professional 24x7 security on site as well as closed-circuit video surveillance inside. Starting out with 6000 sq. ft. of space, upgradeable to 30,000 sq. ft., allows us to hit the ground running.

We will begin with a 10Gige link from Internap and a mix of 2 x 10Gige links each from Comcast and TATA Communications which is great for Europe and Asia. Additional carriers will be added when needed.

 

Seattle, WA

Data Center Features

SoftLayer Seattle is located in a private N+1 data center facility outside the Seattle fault and liquefaction zones. The facility is designed and constructed to sustain a seismic event while maintaining business functions and boasts low latency through superior connections to Seattle's robust fiber optic loops, 55MW of existing electrical capacity, 45 on-site generators with .5-million gallons of on-site fuel storage, and a carrier vault system supported by more than 50 miles of embedded, secure conduits.

Data Center Features

SoftLayer D.C. is located in a private N+1 data center facility just 7 miles from Dulles airport in Chantilly, Virginia. The facility is also home to data centers belonging to AT&T and Verizon Business, and receives power from two redundant Dominion Virginia Power grids. It includes three on-site, 600-ton cooling towers, fully meeting N+1 cooling requirements.
